Mariano Torras
Mariano Torras is a heterodox economist, and much of his early work has focused on ecological economics, sustainable development, political ecology, and power inequality. While still very interested in these areas, he has recently become absorbed in the study of complexity and uncertainty, and how both severely limit economists’ ability to adequately address some of today’s most pressing challenges. Climate change and financialization are arguably two of the biggest, and it is in these areas where he has conducted his most recent research. Mariano is Professor of Economics at Adelphi University, where he has taught for more than 20 years. He is married, has three children and two cats, and enjoys chess, music, and cycling.
